A new Moxy Hotel, an international brand known for its chic and modern accommodations, is set to rise in Niseko Village with a budget of US$40 million. Construction is already underway for this venture which aims to cater primarily to the millennial demographic, generally between the ages of 25-40.
Marriott International, which owns Moxy, describes the brand as a lifestyle-oriented, moderately priced option characterized by contemporary design and a vibrant, edgy personality. According to Moxy's official website, the brand emphasizes a fun, relaxed atmosphere with the slogan, “At Moxy Hotels, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. But we’re seriously into showing you a good time with small but smart rooms, stylish communal spaces, and bars you’ll love.”
The "smart rooms" at Moxy are designed with millennials in mind, featuring technological conveniences like numerous USB sockets, high-speed wifi, and Apple TV. These amenities highlight the brand's commitment to a tech-savvy, comfortable guest experience.
The Niseko Village location will join other prestigious properties such as the Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Hilton, Green Leaf hotels, Hinode Hills condominium, and Kasara Townhouses. Since launching its first hotel in Italy in 2014, Moxy has expanded rapidly, boasting over 150 locations worldwide.
This new 310-room, five-storey hotel will be the fourth Moxy property in Japan, following developments in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Perfectly situated beside the Niseko Village Gondola—the main ski lift in the area—the hotel promises convenient ski-in/ski-out access. The project's development costs are projected at approximately JPY6.59 billion (US$41.74 million), emphasizing its significant scale and impact on the local tourism landscape.
