Mizunara
16-11, Niseko Hirafu 2-jo 2-chome, Kutchan-cho, Hokkaido 044-0081
Completed in December 2015, Mizunara is constructed entirely of concrete with exterior insulation. It has an imported timber frame, European triple glazed windows and uses the exposed concrete finish in several areas of the interior. It is therefore very highly insulated and structurally robust - quite warm in winter and pleasantly cool in the summer months. The building was designed by well known Architect Uehara sensei of DCB Architectural studio in Sapporo, and features a unique skip floor design, and structural walls which eliminate the requirement of structural columns or beams within the building.
There are four bedrooms including a bunk room that sleeps 6 for a total capacity of 12. There are two ensuite bathrooms attached to the two master bedrooms upstairs and a shared bathroom downstairs. There are also two separate toilets.
Homes this well designed and built are hard to come by in Niseko, and to build to this spec today would be incredible costly. Excellent value for a truly magnificent home in the lower village.
