A new era of luxury and sustainability is coming to Myoko Kogen, as Six Senses announces plans for a landmark mountain hotel and branded residences beside the Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort.
Developed by IHG Hotels & Resorts and Patience Capital Group (PCG), Six Senses Myoko will blend world-class design, wellness, and environmental harmony — positioning Myoko as one of Japan’s most desirable all-season destinations.
Reviving a Legendary Ski Region
Myoko is one of Japan’s oldest ski areas, long known for its deep snow, hot springs, and timeless mountain scenery. The upcoming Six Senses project aims to re-energize this storied destination — capturing the sophistication of Europe’s Courchevel or Gstaad, while staying rooted in Japan’s alpine culture.
Design with Purpose
Led by Kengo Kuma and Kume Sekkei, the design concept — “Golden Wind” — evokes sunlight and breeze flowing over terraced landscapes. Expect architecture that celebrates natural materials and the changing seasons, restoring harmony between mountain and village.
The resort will include 57 guest rooms and suites, most with private onsen baths, and 21 branded residences expressing Six Senses’ signature “emotional hospitality.” Guests will enjoy two restaurants, a spa and wellness centre, and cultural spaces connecting visitors with local crafts and creativity.
Sustainable Luxury, Japanese Style
True to the Six Senses ethos, sustainability underpins every detail — from energy-efficient architecture to regenerative design. Six Senses Myoko is set to become a benchmark for eco-conscious mountain hospitality, bringing long-term value to the region.
Access & Timeline
Just three and a half hours from Tokyo by car or just over two and half hours by train, construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026.
“We’re passionate about reviving Myoko as a year-round destination that honours its natural beauty and cultural heritage while introducing a new level of luxury,” said Ken Chan, CEO of PCG.
