CHICAGO and TOKYO (March 5, 2026) - Three and a half years after launching the Christie’s International Real Estate brand in Japan, Hokkaido-based H2 Christie’s International Real Estate is expanding to Tokyo. The move into Japan’s capital, extends the brand’s reach to a global market characterized by rapid growth, high-end luxury, and a steady rise in international real estate investment.
Located in central Tokyo’s Hibiya neighborhood, the new office is supported by a full team of dedicated real estate professionals and a centrally located administrative team. Situated in close proximity to the Imperial Palace in Chiyoda Ward—Tokyo’s historic business district—the office location reinforces the brand’s heritage and prestige positioning. The new office is led by Managing Director of Tokyo, Sunny Chen, whose background includes real estate, private banking and asset management. Chen has worked with high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors, both in Japan and internationally.
Co-founders Simon Robinson and Michael Chen brought over 20 years of combined experience operating in Niseko and Furano to the launch of H2 Group five years ago, establishing a new benchmark for luxury lifestyle real estate in Hokkaido. This success was amplified upon joining the Christie’s International Real Estate network in 2022. Now, the company is applying its proven formula to a new frontier, turning its strategic focus to Tokyo's dynamic luxury market.
As the capital city of the world’s fifth-largest economy, Tokyo is one of Asia’s most important business and financial hubs. In recent years, the city’s luxury real estate market has experienced rapid growth, driven in part by favorable currency dynamics, with the Japanese yen trading at a discount to other major currencies including the US dollar, British pound and the Euro. This has enhanced purchasing power for international buyers, particularly from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Europe and the United States. According to Michael Chen, this environment presents a strategic opportunity for expansion, with the Christie’s International Real Estate global network playing a key role.
“Tokyo is one of the most compelling luxury real estate markets in the world today, with clients actively seeking—and valuing—the exceptional level of service and marketing sophistication that our brand delivers,” said Sunny Chen. “Our full Tokyo team, backed by our central support, allows us to offer a truly bespoke partnership. Clients recognize the tangible value we add to their property journey, from unparalleled presentation to access to a global network, which is why they choose to invest in our premium services.”
Within the last two years, Christie’s International Real Estate has opened new offices in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
“Our success has always been built on deep relationships and a highly personalized service model,” added Michael Chen. “In Tokyo, we are leveraging the incomparable Christie’s International Real Estate brand to provide a distinct advantage. We offer clients more than a transaction; we offer a holistic elevation of their property’s market position, connecting them to a world of luxury beyond real estate.”
As an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, H2 Christie’s International Real Estate’s clients and agents benefit from national and international exposure for luxury properties, exclusive marketing partnerships, and a direct connection to the iconic Christie’s auction house for the referral and sale of art and luxury goods
“Michael and Simon have built a world-class operation. Their deep local relationships, highly personalized service model, and track record of success make them the ideal partner to carry the Christie’s International Real Estate brand into Tokyo, a city that is central to our Asia-Pacific growth strategy,” said Helena Moyas de Forton, Managing Director, EMEA and APAC, Christie’s International Real Estate.
