Check Out The Soga Meadows Listings Now!Niseko United has four base resorts, the largest being Niseko-Hirafu where most of the hotels and houses are located. Niseko-Hanazono is the location of the Park Hyatt and future development of land and villas, whereas Niseko Village houses the Hilton, Ritz Carlton Reserve, Hinode Hills and more. Finally Niseko-Annupuri has a collection of large houses and cool restaurants.
Most visitors find themselves in one of these bases and investment has traditionally centred around these hubs. However, as more and more people keep coming back to the area, owners and travellers alike are looking for other options, without losing access to that world famous snow! The reality is that Niseko's ski area can easily be accessed from anywhere within a short drive. So for those investors looking for a more peaceful site for their resort home, but still having great access to the resort bases and the mountain, the farmlands around the base of the ski hill are becoming a favourite spot.
One such investor is Danny Geerken, who fell in love with the Niseko-Soga area when he first came to visit the famous Rakuichi Soba restaurant. We wanted to know what it was that made this area so special to him compared to being in one of the resort villages.
"Mainly I love the peace and quiet of the area, with amazing views of both Mount Yotei and also the ski resort. It's particularly appealing at night when the resort is lit up and you can see the night-skiing while relaxing with a warm drink!", says Danny.
"But I'm also so close to the resort. The land is only 3 minutes from Annupuri so I can easily access not only the ski hill but also the bars and restaurants - including Rakuichi of course! Personally I prefer being between Niseko Village and Annupuri because the ski hills themselves tend to be less crowded. Also, if it's windy the main lifts in Hirafu and Hanazono tend to be affected more than those in Annupuri."
And what makes your land in particular so special?
"Aside from the great location, the land also benefits from having mature forest. Because we overlook the farmlands we have protected views, but the land itself retains privacy and that feeling of being in nature which is why we all love to spend time here.
I have several friends who sold their properties in the Hirafu area in order to move out in this direction, so I am positive that the new owners of the land will fall in love with it like we did!"
The million dollar question... is it millions of dollars?
"Not at all! That was part of my plan, to make the land affordable and the smaller plots (which are still big!) start at only $200,000 USD on current exchange rates. Not only that, but I'm going to throw in two Niseko United season passes for the first buyer!"
